23 November 2020

The Insurance Authority (IA) will hold its annual flagship event, the Asian Insurance Forum (AIF), on 8 December 2020 with a wide audience from near and far. With the theme “Spearheading Change for a Sustainable and Resilient Future”, a deep dive will be taken into some key drivers of growth for the insurance industry – financial connectivity in the Greater Bay Area, risk management concerning the Belt and Road Initiative and innovation brought about by Insurtech development.

“The past year has been an extraordinary one characterised by volatility and disruption,” said Mr Clement Cheung, Chief Executive of the IA. “As the global insurance industry is bracing for a challenging market landscape in the post-pandemic new normal, it is our firm conviction that every change entails an opportunity which heralds better future.”

Prominent guests attending AIF 2020 include Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, who will deliver the opening address. She will be joined by Mr Jonathan Dixon, Secretary General of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as keynote speakers. Mr Bernard Chan, Convenor of the Non-Official Members of the Executive Council, will give the concluding remarks. Mr Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Laurence Li, Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council and Dr George Lam, Chairman of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited are moderators of three discussion panels participated by seasoned professionals to share their knowledge and insights.
