19 June 2020

The Insurance Authority (IA) today (19 June 2020) welcomed the Government’s decision to reappoint Ms Carol Hui as Executive Director, Long Term Business, and Mr Simon Lam as Executive Director, General Business, for another term of three years until June 2023.

“Ms Hui and Mr Lam have served the IA since it commenced independent operation in June 2017, setting our initial course and strategic focus,” said Dr Moses Cheng, Chairman of the IA. “They have strived with passion and commitment to promote the sustainable growth of the local insurance market, whilst safeguarding the interests of policy holders.”

Dr Cheng also paid tribute to Mr Stephen Po and Mr Raymond Tam, the two outgoing Executive Directors on completion of their tenures, for leading the Market Conduct Division and the Policy and Development Division respectively, over the past three years.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr Po and Mr Tam for their contribution and dedication, which helped lay down a solid foundation for the further development of the IA, and wish them every success in their future endeavours,” Dr Cheng said.

During the course of an exercise to search for suitable replacements, Mr Clement Cheung, Chief Executive Officer, will oversee the Policy and Development Division, and Mr Peter Gregoire, General Counsel, will head the Market Conduct Division of the IA.
