The Insurance Authority (IA) today (28 November 2019) alerted the public to the WeChat account listed below that has impersonated the social media platform of two authorized insurers in Hong Kong, Prudential Hong Kong Limited and Prudential General Insurance Hong Kong Limited. Both companies have confirmed that they have no connection with the social media platform.

The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the WeChat account or has conducted any insurance transactions through the WeChat account should contact the Prudential Customer Services Hotline at 2281-1333 (Life Insurance) or 3656-8362 (General Insurance and Employee Benefits), and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
Any company carrying on insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorized by the IA under the Insurance Ordinance (Cap. 41). The full list of authorized insurers in Hong Kong can be found on the Register of Insurers on the IA website.
