The Insurance Authority ("IA") has established a framework for the classification of Domestic Systemically Important Insurers ("D-SIIs") in Hong Kong. D-SIIs are entities whose failure will cause significant disruption to the local financial system in Hong Kong.
The D-SII framework consists of a two-step assessment comprising quantitative and qualitative assessments. The classified D-SIIs will be subject to strengthened supervisory requirements. For details of the framework, please click here.
