Hyperlink Policy

The Insurance Authority (“IA”) allows a third party to create a hyperlink from its website (the host website) to the IA’s website (www.ia.org.hk) provided that the IA’s policies set out below with regard to creating such a hyperlink are fully complied with.

Unless otherwise stated, all copyright and other intellectual property rights in the materials on the IA’s website (including but not limited to all text, graphics, drawings, diagrams, photographs and compilation of data or other materials) are protected by copyright and belong to the IA. Any reproduction, adaptation, distribution, dissemination or making available of such copyright works to the public is strictly prohibited unless prior written consent is obtained from the IA.

The IA shall not be responsible for consequential effect, nor be liable for any loss or damage, howsoever caused, arising from or in connection with the use of or inability to use the IA’s website or use of or reliance upon any information or material provided on the IA’s website. The IA endeavours to ensure that the information contained on the IA’s website is accurate as at the date of publication, but does not warrant its accuracy or accept any liability (including third party liability) for any loss or damage, whether or not arising from any inaccuracy or omission or from any decision, action or non-action based on or in reliance upon information contained on this website.

Any hyperlink created should be set to point to the relevant webpage of the IA’s website rather than featuring the content itself, so as to ensure that the updated version is accessed.

To the extent that any linkages to the IA’s website are created, the IA’s website must be presented in a way that fairly represents the IA’s role.

There must be no reproduction of the IA logo.

The hyperlinks are created for convenience. The IA does not sponsor or endorse these third parties and the IA’s website shall not be deemed to be part of any websites or pages maintained by such third parties.

The context of the text must not give users of the host website an impression that the host website is sponsored or endorsed by the IA. The context of the link must not suggest that the IA has created any of the host website’s contents, that is, the source of the host website’s materials must be clear.

In creating hyperlinks on the host website to the IA’s website, at no time should the IA’s website appear to be part of the host website (i.e. no framing of the IA’s website). The IA reserves the right at any time to determine the way in which the hyperlink is to be structured or require removal of any link to the IA’s website.

The IA is not obliged to establish a reciprocal link to the host website following the establishment of a hyperlink from the host website to the IA’s website unless the IA gives its prior written agreement to do so.

The IA does not allow a link to the IA’s website if the host website contains any material which is libellous, defamatory, pornographic, obscene, or is in any way in breach of the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or infringes any intellectual property rights or other rights.

In addition, the host website is required to display the following information prominently beside any such hyperlink:

You should pay careful attention to the Legal Information section on the homepage of the IA’s website when referring to information using this link.

The IA reserves the right to modify the above policies at any time.
