Global insurance leaders to gather in Hong Kong for IAIS flagship events and Asian Insurance Forum 2026

6 November 2026

As geopolitical shifts, climate change, technological disruption and demographic trends converge to create a highly complex risk landscape, the role of insurance has fundamentally transformed. Today, insurance stands as a cornerstone of economic stability, enabling businesses to invest, innovate and grow with resilience.

This is a pivotal moment for Hong Kong as we advance our position as a global risk management centre, a strategic role designated under the National 15th Five-Year Plan. To drive this vision forward, the city is set to welcome a landmark week of global insurance dialogues, bringing together insurance supervisors and industry leaders from all over the world to chart the future of risk management.

Setting the Global Agenda

The week will begin with the Committee Meetings and Annual General Meeting of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), followed by its Annual Conference 2026 on 12-13 November. As the world's leading standard-setting body for insurance supervision, the IAIS plays a critical role in shaping the global regulatory agenda. Having actively contributed to the work of the IAIS over the years, the Insurance Authority (IA) is privileged to host this key event in Hong Kong for the first time. This brings a unique opportunity for the local insurance community to connect with more than 600 delegates from about 120 jurisdictions, representing insurance supervisors, policymakers and senior industry leaders.

The IAIS Annual Conference, themed “Towards better outcomes: Insurance in the age of interconnected risks”, will dive into IAIS’s strategic priorities and a wide range of timely topics. Discussions will evolve around shifting societal trends, natural catastrophe protection, and the transformative impact of artificial intelligence.

Formulating the Resilience Blueprint

The momentum continues with the IA’s annual flagship event Asian Insurance Forum (AIF) 2026, which will provide a fitting finale of the eventful week on 13 November afternoon. Themed "The Resilience Blueprint amid Polycrisis", AIF 2026 will build upon the important discussions at the IAIS sessions. The agenda will feature keynote speeches on policy priorities and market opportunities. It will then cover supervisory priorities and risk management strategies in global multimodal trade, as well as the growing prominence of alternative investments and asset-intensive reinsurance.

Taken together, these back-to-back events spotlight Hong Kong as a premier platform for international dialogues and strategic cooperation. This is an unparalleled opportunity to engage with global insurance supervisors and senior industry leaders. While the physical venues will be buzzing with international delegates, virtual access to the AIF is open to all, online and complimentary.

We look forward to welcoming participants from all over the world to experience Hong Kong’s signature hospitality, energy, and connectivity.
