23 September 2025

IA Files (“保監有道” in Chinese), a new TV drama series co-produced by the Insurance Authority (IA) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), will premiere on RTHK TV31 this Saturday (27 September 2025). The four-episode series, adapted from real-life cases, aims to deepen public understanding of the IA’s regulatory, investigative and enforcement work, while promoting key educational messages about taking out insurance.

At the kick-off ceremony today (23 September 2025), Maria Tsui, Head of Enforcement of the IA, said, “We are entering the 7th year since the IA took over the regulation of insurance intermediaries. During this period, we have focused on enhancing the conduct and professional standards of the industry through our regulatory and enforcement work to safeguard the interests of policy holders. The drama series will provide the public with a clearer understanding of our work and increase their knowledge of insurance, empowering them to better protect their rights.”

Alan Wu, Acting Head of Conduct Supervision of the IA, said, “The stories in the drama series are based on real-life complaints and investigation cases, covering issues such as failure to explain key policy features to customers, inducement of policy replacements1 , unlicensed selling and misappropriation of premiums. The IA places strong emphasis on the industry’s adherence to the principle of ‘treating customers fairly’, and it is vital for intermediaries to act in the best interests of their clients in their dealings.”

Amy Kwong, Assistant Director of Broadcasting (TV & Corporate Businesses), said, “As the public service broadcaster, the drama series is intended to present insurance-related topics that people may not know well but which are deeply connected to everyone. This drama series conveys these topics in a friendly, easy-to-understand and relatable manner, aiming to help people learn more about how the IA protects the public interest, recognise the contributions of insurance industry to society, as well as showcase the professionalism of outstanding insurance practitioners.”

The main actors of the drama series, Ling Man Lung and Sofiee Ng, along with other actors, including Goofy Yeung, Paco Wong and Latrice He, were invited to attend the kick-off ceremony. The cast opened up about the filming and the roles they played, before taking part in interactive games to introduce the work of the IA and knowledge about the regulation of intermediaries.

IA Files will air on Saturdays at 7pm for four weeks starting from 27 September on RTHK TV31. The episodes will also be streamed simultaneously on the RTHK website (tv.rthk.hk) and “RTHK TV” mobile app. The programme will later be available for viewing on the IA’s YouTube channel.
