The Insurance Authority (IA) today (23 January 2025) alerted the public to phishing mobile text messages from fraudsters who purport to be “Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE” and “Euler Hermes” (with the brand name of Allianz Trade), both of which are authorized insurers in Hong Kong, to defraud personal or payment information. Recipients of the messages were asked to call a suspicious phone number to cancel or change a certain insurance policy.
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE and Euler Hermes have confirmed that they have no connection with such fraudulent mobile text messages. The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the fraudsters or has conducted any transactions through the fraudsters should report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
