The Insurance Authority (IA) today (16 January 2025) alerted the public to phishing mobile text messages from fraudsters who purport to be Prudential Hong Kong Limited (Prudential), an authorized insurer in Hong Kong, to defraud personal or payment information. Recipients of the messages were asked to call a suspicious phone number to cancel a certain insurance policy.
Prudential has confirmed that it has no connection with such fraudulent mobile text messages. The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the fraudsters or has conducted any transactions through the fraudsters should contact Prudential at 2281-1333 and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
