The Insurance Authority (IA) today (26 January 2024) wishes to alert members of the public in Hong Kong to a fraudulent website with the domain name of “https://aig8666.com/zh/search.aspx?aig-dmp-forms-hksearchzh-tracker-id=&searchkey=84722103523”. The aforesaid website purports to be the website of an authorized insurer of Hong Kong, AIG Insurance Hong Kong Limited (the Company). The Company has confirmed that it has no connection with the fraudulent website.
The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the aforesaid website or has conducted any insurance transactions through the website should notify the Company at [email protected] or +852 3666 7017, and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
Any company carrying on insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorized by the IA under the Insurance Ordinance (Cap. 41). The full list of authorized insurers in Hong Kong can be found on the Register of Insurers on the IA website.
