The Insurance Authority (IA) today (9 November 2022) alerted the public to phishing Whatsapp messages from fraudsters who purport to be insurance intermediaries of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (Sun Life), an authorized insurer in Hong Kong, to promote money lending services which are not within Sun Life’s scope of business. Customers were also asked to download a malicious mobile application or visit a fraudulent website with domain name “http://sun-lifegroup.com”.
Sun Life has confirmed that it has no connection with such promotion activities, malicious mobile application and fraudulent website. The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the fraudsters or the fraudulent website, or has conducted any transactions through the fraudsters or the fraudulent website, should contact Sun Life at 2103-8928 and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
