The Insurance Authority (IA) welcomes the reappointment by the Chief Executive of Dr Moses Cheng Mo-chi as the Chairman of the IA for another term of three years, with effect from 28 December 2018.
“It has been my great privilege and honour to be tasked with leading a young and energetic regulator as its inaugural Chairman in the past three years,” Dr Cheng said. “In my next term, I shall continue to work closely with the IA team and am confident that our synergy will enable us to further strengthen the regulatory regime for the sustainable development of the insurance industry and better protection for policy holders.”
Dr Cheng extends his congratulations to Professor Anna Wong Wai-kwan on her appointment as a new Non-Executive Director (NED) of the IA and the seven incumbent NEDs on their reappointments: Mr Samuel Chan Ka-yan, Professor Chan Wai-sum, Ms Chitty Cheung Fung-ting, Mr Kenneth Kwok Tsun-wa, Mr Ma Ho-fai, Mr James Wong Chien-kuo and Mr Stephen Yiu Kin-wah.
Established in December 2015, the IA is a statutory insurance regulator, independent of the Government and the industry. It assumed the statutory function on the regulation of insurance companies on 26 June 2017. The IA is expected to start direct regulation of insurance intermediaries in mid-2019.
